Sights of San Francisco

My friend David came to visit the other week and we spent some time wandering around San Francisco.

Golden Gate

This photo I took in San Francisco over Christmas break made it into the Tower Light campus literary publication which came out the other day. The publication is sprinkled with black and white photos, two of which were mine. This is a departure from the norm, as I have submitted photos almost every semester and never been published. Just goes to show how subjective art can be…

Strange Icicles

The other day I was in the basement computer lab of one of the classroom buildings on campus and I happened to look out through the high windows and see this spectacular icicle formation. I don’t know exactly how it formed, but it looked like two series of vertebrae but in ice. It had formed on the bottom of a metal grate which covered a large drainage area. I returned the next day with my gear and, after enlisting some friends’ help, I climbed up and squeezed out through the small window into the drainage area. One of my friends followed suit to be my voice activated light stand (VALS) and hold my flash for me to better light this strange formation.

Strange Icicles

I shot this second one with black and white in mind and I think it turned out rather nicely.

Day 323: “Saga” Steve

Saga Steve

I took this shot of “Saga” Steve a while back, but I was reminded of it recently as it appeared in the college yearbook. Steve is always there to swipe my card every time I go to the dining hall.
